Prednisolone tablets


Each tablet contains:
Prednisolone                                    100mg

Prednisolone tablets for dogs

Rheumatological/orthopaedic diseases: rheumatoid arthritis, Arthrosis deformans, chronic arthritis, bursitis, tendonitis, peri-arthritis. Respiratory diseases: allergic bronchitis.
Gastrointestinal disorders: chronic active hepatitis.
Ophthalmic disorders
Dermatological conditions: anti-inflammatory: pyotraumatic dermatitis, allergic dermatitis, contact dermatitis, urticarial, idiopathic seborrheic dermatitis, juvenile cellulitis.
Immunosuppressive lupus erythematosus.

Dosage and administration
In acute conditions:               0.5 to 4mg per kg/bw per day
Chronic disorders:                  2 – 4 mg per kg/bw per day for 3 days
Then 1 to 2 mg per/bw per day for 5 days
Then 1 to 2 mg per kg/w every other day, at intervals of one week.
The dosage is then halved until the minimum effective dose is reached.
Administration for dog at 08:00 in the morning to follow circulation rhythm of the day.

Adverse reactions
Possible abortion in the last third of gestation. Decreasing resistance to pathogens; increased risk of septicaemia and septic cystitis, masking of infections. Adrenal suppression with long-term treatment with chance of adrenal insufficiency under heavy strain of the animal, such as stress and in acute cessation of therapy. Catabolism with results as atrophy, myopathy, delay of the wound healing. Osteoporosis. Inhibiting the longitudinal growth of bones, atrophy, diabetes mellitus, polyuria, polydipsia, polyphagia, euphoria, ulcerations in the gastrointestinal system, pancreatitis, hyperlipidaemia, increase lipolysis, fatty infiltration of the liver with steroid hepatopathy, inhibition of the hypothalamic pituitary, adrenocortical system, decrease of the thyroids thesis, increase of the parathyroid synthesis, morbus Cushing.

Viral infections, diabetes mellitus, osteoporosis, heart disease, kidney disease, fungal infections, corneal ulcers, burns.

Do not use in pregnant animals. Phenytoinn, barbiturates, ephedrine and rifampicin, can accelerate metabolic clearance of lowering blood levels and physiological effect. Concurrent administriation with potassium-depleting diuretics may cause hypokalemia, potassium levels need to be checked. Co-administriation with salicylic acid derivaties leads to an additive ulcerogenic effect.

Store at 15 – 25°C. Do not refrigerate.
Keep away from children.
