Ketoprofen is a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) belonging to the propionic acid subclass of carboxylic acid derivative NSAID’s. Ketoprofen exerts three main pharmacological effects that are common to all NSAID’s; Anti-inflammatory, analgesic, and antipyretic. The primary mechanics of action is inhibition of prostaglandin synthesis through interference with the cyclooxygenase pathway of arachidonic acid metabolism. Ketoprofen has been shown to have potent activity against acute and chronic inflammation in the classical models of inflammation.
